XSport to Expand in Chicago, New York, DC Areas

XSport Fitness, Big Rock, IL, recently announced plans to expand in its three primary markets of Chicago, New York and Washington, DC.

XSport will add three new clubs, one each in Melrose Park, IL; the Bronx, NY; and Fort Totten, a neighborhood in northeast Washington, DC. The Melrose Park club is scheduled to open by the end of this year, the Bronx club is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the Fort Totten club is expected to open in 2016.

"XSport Fitness is very excited about the recent expansion efforts, and we will continue to strive to meet the ever-growing health and fitness needs of our customers," Dan Morrissey, vice president of Capital Fitness (which does business as XSport Fitness), said in a statement.

XSport also just announced an $8 million expansion for its Belmont-Ashland club in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, doubling that club's size to 60,000 square feet.

The three new clubs and the renovated club will each feature more than 200 pieces of equipment, personal training, XIT group training (a fast-paced, competitive interval training workout), a basketball court, a four-lane lap pool, a resistance pool, a full-day spa, a child play area and a pro shop featuring Nike, Adidas, Under Armor and XSport apparel.

XSport is No. 8 on Club Industry's Top 100 Clubs list with a reported $176 million in 2013 revenue. The three new clubs will bring the company's total to 39—30 in the Chicagoland area, six in the DC area and three in New York, including two on Long Island, NY.

In January, XSport opened two express clubs in Woodbridge, VA, and Matteson, IL, and opened a full-service club in May in Norridge, IL.

All XSport clubs are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
